The Big Picture, The Eye, The Idea and The Emotion

The balance between looking, thinking and emotion was the fundamental and timely theme of Aldeburgh ART, the festival devoted to visual art

In its second year Aldeburgh ART 2012 was held over four days from 2nd - 5th June attracting some of the art world's most erudite personalities with speakers including Martin Gayford, Simon Wilson, Razia Iqbal, Cedar Lewisohn and Sargy Mann.  The LOOKOUT was alive with exciting installations from Peter Hall, Paul Purgas & Shelley Parker, The Gut Club and mmmmm.  The Art House held lively fish n chip art chats based on the legacy of Duchamp and the life of Roger Hilton.  Botallack O'Clock the five star Time Out awarded play written by Eddie Elks and starring Dan Frost about the life and soul of Roger Hilton was performed at The Jubilee Hall and an exciting Son et Lumiere of Chris Newson's The Storm was projected onto Maggi Hambling's Scallop.  Fringe artists held shows in businesses and galleries around Aldeburgh and all in all it was a successful event apart from a screen falling down during Sargy Mann's talk!
