Biography

Jack Butler Yeats was the son of portrait painter John Butler Yeats and brother to the poet William Butler Yeats.  He is considered one of the most important figures of Irish twentieth-century art and was prolific in producing more than one thousand paintings, along with vast numbers of illustrations, comic cartoons, drawings and watercolours.  On top of this he was responsible for seven novels and nine plays.
